13 July 2020 statement

The sun was shining, the pool was 30⁰, the kiosk was open for coffee, snacks and ice creams and we managed to accommodate 250 members in the pools throughout the day!  We have had lots of fabulous positive feedback and are proud that we were able to get the pools open for you today.

We have learnt a lot about how our planned re-opening works in practise.  Thank you for you patience and understanding, we are working in unchartered territory this first week. We can’t promise we won’t make more changes as guidance evolves and we get a better understanding of how our members use the club pools, but we will keep you up to date with our plans as we shape them into the best version we can!

If you are swimming lengths at 8am you can call to book the day before. Please only book this earliest session if you have no other time to swim, it was far and away the busiest dedicated time: 8:30am, 9:00am and 9:30am had available space. Remember that you can swim lengths any time throughout the day if you want to book a slot later.

You can book swimming over the telephone on the day, but there will always be spaces reserved for ‘walk-ins’ so if you turn up, haven’t booked and want to swim we will do our best to accommodate you.

If you have booked a session you will need to be here in advance of the time you have booked, if you have not signed in before the time you have booked we will give that time to a waiting member.

In order to maximise the number of members swimming, pool sessions will be 20 minutes between 2pm and 5pm weekdays and 12 to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

If you are on site and have had your swim, but want more time, please call the club from the pool side and we will do our best to give you an additional session.

Please do not book if you are not going in the water – parents are welcome to watch by the poolside.

If you have finished your session in the busiest of times and you are happy to leave the pool early, do let the pool attendant know and they can give some time to those who are waiting.

If you cannot get enough spaces in a time slot for your whole family – you can share your space with your family or a friend, as long as the maximum number of members in the pool does not exceed 18.

There are no guests allowed for swimming or tennis.

Remember that you can come and sit next to the pool before your swimming session and that you can remain in the pool area after your session if you so desire.

We are leaving the children’s pool to parents to manage, so these are available all day from 10am to 8pm. We can accommodate six children at once in the slide pool, with only one on the slide at a time.

We have taken on board much of the feedback that we have been given by those swimming today so thank you!
